Numbers is a good alternative to Excel on the iPhone. One of the great benefits is that you can upload Excel documents either through iTunes or iCloud and access them through the Numbers app, and vice versa.

Updating Apps
To update your apps you will see a red circle with a number in the App Store corner when you are looking at your home screen.
Open the App Store and go to Updates in the bottom right hand corner:

Updates will show you the apps that need to be updated:
Click Update you may have to enter you Apple ID password:
All apps will update. Please keep in mind that if there is a size issue you will get a popup stating that you will need to connect to wifi due to the amount of data being used.
