Apple TV

Got an Apple TV as a gift? Looking to hook it up? It's pretty simple. You will need an HDMI cable that can be found at any store that sells electronics.

Once you take the remote and tv box out of the box connect the power cable and the HDMI Cable if you do not have WIFI then you will also need to plug in an Ethernet cable.

Once you plug everything in to the wall plug the HDMI cable into the TV

Once everything is connected turn on the tv and put it in the HDMI mode. For my TV it says near the connector what mode it is. Mine is HDMI 2.

Mine bypassed setup but follow the prompts in the screen. If needed look for the gear icon and go to general (mine was in French) from there look for language and you should be able to adjust your language.

I also recommend signing into your APPLE ID.

Once you are set up you can do multiple things. You can watch Netflix, YouTube, and various other channels. You can also watch any movies or tv shows from iTunes. (Keep in mind you may need to update your device.)

You can also airplay on your iOS device or computers. If you have a Mac then it will show the computer screen (if you meet the requirements) if it is a windows then it will only do iTunes.

You can mirror your device. To do so on an iPad or iPhone or even iPod if capable slide the control center up and select Air Play.

From there you will see a screen that asks you where you want to send the video/song. If you have multiple apple
TV or air play devices you will have to select which one you want.

If you want to show your iPhone or device on the tv select Mirroring.

This will show your screen on the TV. This works with all apps including FaceTime and camera.

You can password protect it or you can leave it open so that any device can send info to the tv. Keep in mind this is a lot like a remote. If you have multiple remotes with the same frequency they can override each other. Probably not wise to have it open if you have teens or a trickster significant other you will want a password otherwise they will be overriding it constantly.
